This nearly 9,000 square foot home located on the 2nd hole of the Jack Nicholas Signature golf course in Montrêux truly could not have been this successful without the combined team effort of everyone involved. It began with the inspiration and freedom given to us by the owners, Norbert and Maureen Hohlbein and their love for Northern Nevada’s history.
The architect, Gail Richie, could not have captured the look of Tahoe any better with the spectacular roof lines, multiple gables and dormer windows, large barge rafters and outriggers combined with the exterior finishes using Akrotique (antique finish over a smooth stucco finish), horizontal Cedar siding and large Prairie Fieldstone rock complete with liken stacked to batter at the base of the columns.
Gary Hull of Artistic Gardens captured the natural look and feel of Tahoe by designing landscape and hardscape including multiple water features with babbling brooks, meandering multi-sized tumbled pavers with mature plantings indigenous to our area.
Lake Crest Homes’ Jim Smrt provided superior management to talented qualified subcontractors together with Stacey Michael who provided interior construction design coordination.
Stacey worked with Brenda Ward of DWB Designs to achieve the true look and feel of a lodge style home. Each room was designed to include: interior and exterior iron fixtures with mica glass designed and fabricated by Erwin Antonitch of European Design Iron; the “Ponderosa Room” with Pine log siding; the “Miner’s Room” with brick walls, wood timbers, antiqued tin ceiling and cork floor; the “Rec Room” with a Timber Peg look; the “Great Room” with large radiused beams and oversized and distressed finish work; a theater with top of the line equipment, seating and Starry Night fiberoptic ceiling and whole-house automation by Integrated Home Systems; and the “Barn Room” located in the Outdoor Room with antiqued stucco falling off old brick complete with tumbled pavers and a full working kitchen where expansive glass doors can be pocketed away for a true outdoor feeling.
